When things feel a little Ruff around the edges it's time to smooth things out....

Updated: May 16, 2023

When things feel a little bit Ruff around the edges it’s good to know there is a product out there which leads to smooth, glowing healthy skin.

This is a blog I should have written last year, however time was against me, it was wedding season, school holidays were looming and I had a to do list as long as your arm. Somehow I managed to write about a beautiful day photographing amongst the flowers with TV presenter, Mr Plant Geek and Ellen Mary Gardening, quite possibly one of my favourite photoshoots, but that was back in September.

Well, it was worth holding off writing until now. A year ago, I was approached by Franzi from Studio Brand Up to photograph a new rebranding they had worked on for Ruff Stuff Bodycare to coincide with their upcoming relaunch in the UK and taking the product overseas to the United States.

As with all photoshoots, I like to immerse myself with the brand in order to showcase the product to it’s full potential. Ruff Stuff Bodycare is a family-based business situated on the Suffolk Coast and is the brainchild of Toni, a waxing specialist with over 20 years of experience in the beauty industry. With her knowledge, Toni and her partner, Paul, developed a handmade, 100% natural sugar scrub. A gentle, exfoliating product which can be used on a daily basis to promote healthy, glowing skin.

Ruff Stuff Bodycare scrubs are made from the finest natural ingredients incorporating coconut oil, full of vitamin E and carefully blended essential oils; Citrus Blend and Herbal Infusion were launched after the photoshoot to compliment their existing Original Mint Daily Scrub. The scrubs are handmade and registered with the Vegan Society.

Ruff Stuff Bodycare wanted images to work across all social media platforms, products in a styled setting as well as simple, individual images for their website. The scrubs were photographed with locally sourced ingredients and other props to showcase the brand to it’s full potential. At one point, the kitchen table was converted into a beach scene and whilst my bathroom didn’t live up to clean-cut modern decor, with the use of some clever backdrops, I was able to give it a temporary makeover. I do love a challenge. The images captured encapsulated the vision Toni had for her product.

Speaking with Toni recently, she said, “we’ve basically doubled our business since launching the new flavours after your photoshoot.”

“We were so pleased with the set of professional product photographs Caroline took for our body scrubs. They have been used across all our social media and point of sale merchandise and we've had so many compliments about them. Caroline really showcased our products and understood our ethos. We'd highly recommend.”

Since photographing the scrubs, Ruff Stuff Bodycare have had features in The Times and more recently this months’ edition of Vegetarian Living magazine. I love seeing images put to great use, especially in publications.

Currently, Ruff Stuff Bodycare are busy producing an entirely brand new product to compliment their existing range. My lips are sealed.

Take care and stay safe.

Caroline
